NFP Pet Transport Ltd

As collecting pets has not been classed as essential travel, we are here to assist you.

The below measures are to minimise the risks of cross contamination of Coronavirus and to ensure safety of our staff and customers.

  • We continue to offer pet transport throughout the UK only as our handlers have to travel due to their jobs.
  • ALL of the transport industry, as we are, has been classified as essential workers due to the need to keep the economy moving. Please respect our staff who are working increased hours with increased demand.
  • Safety measures for collecting and delivering pets that we implemented in March will continue to be used. These can be found below.
  • Staff who can work from home will continue to do so, as they have been since the initial national lockdown in March.

As with all who have staff working from home, we are the same

  • You may hear background noise such as children, dogs barking and other noise. Whilst all possible is done to reduce background noise, unfortunately all noise can't be prevented.
  • Calls are unable to be transferred to other departments. Your details will be taken and passed via email to the relevant department who will contact you via email.
  • Outgoing telephone calls are restricted due to staff working from home and extra demand for our service which is causing higher workload for our staff so outgoing calls are restricted in order to remove pressure from staff so they can focus on ensuring high standards for pets and to meet all customer needs. Please contact us via email.

For information on the latest Government announcement, and how it may affect you, please visit https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Only one household pet/s in a vehicle at a time. No multi household transport is being conducted. This is to reduce the risks of cross contamination of Coronavirus to each household and protect our staff and customers. This also aids with unvaccinated pets, those unsure of vaccination status or those who haven't received vaccination boosters.

SAFETY MEASURES

  1. Handlers are not allowed to enter properties. this includes porches and any other area that can be enclosed.
  2. Collection and delivery addresses are contacted by email before transport is arranged and asked questions which relate to safety of the public and our handlers due to COVID 19.
  3. Pets are wiped when collected and before delivering. This is to remove any droplets that may be on your pet and based on advice received from DEFRA and other agencies. Wipes are safe and pet friendly.
  4. Monitor the tracking link and be prepared for our handler to arrive. Keep your collection/delivery point updated on our handlers location to them.
  5. Self isolating, shielding or high risk, please inform us.
  6. Symptoms of COVID 19 or tests positive for COVID 19 inform us immediately.
  7.  Handlers can only accept pet passports, vaccination paperwork and pedigree paperwork. These must be in an unsealed envelope.
  8. Allocated collection and delivery place for our handler to collect and deliver your pet to.  The crate is not taken by our handlers.

  • a crate/pet carrier/pen placed outside, with a cover on to protect your pet from weather,
  • a crate/carrier placed inside the boot of a vehicle and the vehicle boot to be left open. This is the allocated collection and delivery place.
  • Handlers aren't allowed to collect from porches or any space that could be enclosed, such as a porch that has a door either side.

Collection Process:-

  1. Place your pet in the allocated place only once our handler has acknowledged.
  2. Place paperwork with the crate.
  3. Step back 2 metres.
  4. Complete the form that we have sent you.
  5. Our handler will approach and reassure your pet before wiping the pet and placing into our pet carrier or vehicle. This is completed in a controlled and experienced manner.
  6. Opportunity to view vehicle and have the vehicle explained to you will be offered to you once the pet is loaded into our vehicle as the pet is our handlers priority. This is completed whilst observing social distancing.

Delivery Process:-

  1. Allocated delivery space placed outside when you see our handler arrive.
  2. Stay 2 metres away from our handler.
  3. Complete the form that we have sent you.
  4. Property first. Our handler will place any items at the allocated delivery space first.
  5. Unload your pet from our vehicle and wipe the pet. Handler will inform you how your pet has travelled.
  6. Place your pet in allocated space.
  7. 2 metres away. You can approach the pet once our handler is 2 metres away.

Please follow our handlers instructions.

Our handlers are extremely use to this process and have been following it since the first day of lockdown.

Before leaving delivery points the pet pod will be disinfected using Parvovirucide, which is the only product DEFRA approved, and used bedding removed.

We thank you for your understanding, patience and cooperation during this extremely challenging and unprecedented time within our great country.

of the team will contact you.

We are proud that many of our staff, as well as working within the transport industry, which has all been classed as essential workers, are also doing their bit for their communities.

Some of our staff volunteer with the NHS, Emergency Services, mental health services, RNLI, flooding and many other sectors.

For COVID 19 vaccinations we are proud to support some of our staff so they can volunteer to administer COVID 19 vaccine. Whilst they are off work for this they will be receiving full pay from us.

All staff who volunteer their time for the good of their community are allowed time off in order to do this, and this time off is guaranteed, no matter the high workload we have experienced during the COVID 19 outbreak.

We are proud of our staff and will continue to support them in giving to their local communities and aiding the COVID 19 fight.

When you email or phone us, or you have a handler visit you, that staff member may be one of those who volunteer their time to the community.

PLEASE BE KIND.

Transporters Licences Explained

 Conditional or unconditional License

Licenses that are unconditional have no restrictions imposed.

A conditional license prevents the transporter from doing certain things. Conditions can be a variety of issues but an example is not being allowed to transport pets on RoRo vessels (ferries and Eurotunnel).

We recommend always contacting APHA, who issue transporters licenses and ask them if there are any condition imposed on the transporter. You will need to provide the APHA (Animal & Plant Health Agency) with information about the transporter such as their name, business name, address, contact details. If your transporter won't provide you with any of this information then proceed with caution.

Type 1 licence

The vehicle hasn't been inspected or approved to transport animals. These licences can only transport animals for up to 8 hour and transport that involves ferries (RoRo vessels) isn't allowed.

Type 2 Licence

The vehicle has under gone an inspection and can be used for all journeys including journeys over 12 hours.

A vehicle body approval certificate will accompany the vehicle.

Not all approved vehicles can transport animals on ferries (RoRo vessels). Please ensure there is a 'Yes' answer next to RoRo vessel securing points. If there is a no then insurances for your pet will not be valid due to the vehicle not allowed to transport animals when ferries are involved. Your pet could also be seized by authorities at either side. EVEN IF THERE IS A YES THERE MAY BE CONDITIONS ON THE LICENSE THAT PREVENTS A TRANSPORTER USING A ROUTE THAT INVOLVES THE TRANSPORT OF PETS ON FERRIES.

Always ensure that you have viewed a copy of the Authorised Animal Transporters Licence as well as insurances. If the transport involves a ferry or outside of the UK such as Europe or Southern Ireland, we recommend that you also ask to view the vehicle approval certificate.

You can check a Transporters Authorisation License by contacting the Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA) on 0300 020 0301

You will need to provide the transporters name/business name, address, telephone number, email address in order for APHA to ensure they provide you with information for the correct transporter. They are unable to provide you with personal information but can inform you if they hold a licence, f it is a Type 1 or Type 2 and if there are any restrictions imposed on the license.

If your transporter does not provide you with their name/business name, address, telephone number and email then this is a concern as you are entitled to information that enables you to validate their Transporters License.
